Upgrading CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0

    HI,

    I have installed CRM3.0 on my test server and have done customizations on the same.

    Now i want to deploy CRM4.0 on my production server.will deployment manager help or how can i achieve this task.

    Please suggest.

    There are 2 ways you can do this:

    You can use the v3 redeployment manager to deploy the CRM v3 deployment to the new server, and then do an in-place upgrade to v4
    OR
    you can do the upgrade to v4 first, and then use the v4 redeployment manager to redeploy to the production server.

    I have done both, and they both worked, but I would say the v4 was a bit easier. I wrote about it here:

    I would also recommend going through the process on a VPC before you attempt it on production.

    One more question - I can run deployment manager for deploying across domains also..right?

    I have to install crm4.0 on a different domain in production.

    Hi:

    yes you can, there is a step in the deployment manager process that allows
    you to map users from the existing deployment to users in the new
    deployment.
