Unable to remove custom attributes or publish entity in CRM 4

    We have CRM 4.0 and we are unable to remove custom attributes or publish the entity. We have the very informational (!) "An Error has Occured" message. I tried importing the "vanilla" Appointment customization but still have the error (and anyway, since import is additive, the custom fields remains).
    Do you any suggestions?

    Umm, I'd be surprised if prior states of customization are not kept and the published 'flag' merely moved to the latest. Can anyone confirm? Is there a way of 'un-publishing' to revert to the previous published state?
