Look in your %temp% folder for log files from when the install failed. If there is one, that should give an indication of what the problem is.

supposedly solved by Rollup 1.

Archived from: microsoft.public.crm

Yep, trying the desktop client did provide insight. It still said there was
a pending reboot, but it let me get to the Install button, which means the
holdup was from the other warning I got about how it already had a copy of
the database on the hard drive, which it did, since this was a reinstall.

I canceled the desktop install, uninstalled the MSDE and deleted the folder
out of program files. Ran the install with offline capabilities and the
install completed.

But now I have a new problem. When going offline I get an error that says
"Failed move data for entity 'opportunity' during action salnsert. count
Rows=12.

Count Rows was a higher number, like 30 something. I kept trying to go
offline and it would drop a few each time. Now its down to 12 and stays
there. Going offline fails.

Anyone have any idea what that's about?

Thanks.

Try getting the Install button to enable with the desktop client. You don't
have to actually install it, but there are fewer requirements with the
desktop client, so getting that far with the install may provide some insight.

Yeah, it is a yellow exclamation point. Everything else is green except
that it found a copy of the offline database already on the system, which is
fine because this is a reinstall. That is also a yellow exclamation point.
I agree with you that something else is going on. That is becoming more and
more apparent. You make a good point about the lengthy delays. I'll keep
messing with it.

Thanks,

Something else is going besides the Pending Restart. That should be a
warning, its icon should be a yellow exclamation point, and in my experience,
that has never stopped an install from working. If its icon is a red x, then
it would stop you from completing the install.

Are all the other icons green check marks? I've found lengthy delays in the
laptop install while the setup process checks the system requirements; and
the next button is disabled until all checks are complete.

I having an issue installing a CRM 3.0 client for Outlook on a Windows XP
laptop. In the System Requirements check of the install, it says that
"Setup has detected a pending computer restart. Skipping the restart might
cause errors during Setup."

The Next button is grayed out. I have restarted the computer a few times
and this error keeps coming back.

Some back ground info....this is not the first install. The client was
previously installed and never worked correctly. I uninstalled it, including
the MSDE, and am now trying to reinstall. The MSDE installed ok and I keep
getting hung up at this spot. This is on XP SP2. My next step is to
install SP3 and try again. In the mean time, has anyone run into this one
and know of a fix?

Thanks
