I had the same Assertion Failed message. I finally realized I forgot to copy over the msidcrl40.dll , as soon as I copied it over I was able to login. I have not tested with a large update yet.

Hi John, most of our users only use the Outlook Client but all users seemed to be having record saving issues, etc. at the same time. We also display a records related entity as an IFRAME which showed as an error (if that helps).

The few users who do use the web client for email templates, etc. were having issues also.

The only event log issues I can see relate to c360 Audit add-on which I wouldn't imagine having to much to do with the web client (eg; Event Viewer - Application: had a number of Failure Audit - MSSQLSERVER errors). Our only Error's listed were directly related to our c360 Audit (which we are also currently having issues with).

was this happening from any web client on any of your client machines or all of them. Can you check the event logs on the CRM web server to see if there are any errors showing in the time frame this was happening.

Hi, we had an issue recently where our web client froze to such an extent that we weren't able to access any part of the CRM system. The only 'links' that worked were to associated views (eg; underlined links to related records). This issue also caused many errors to occur in users Outlook client.

Any attempt to navigate to Settings, open a record (other than a related record which opened but hid all fields!!) or Marketing List, etc. nothing happened. We didn't even get the pointing hand to signify it was a link of any sort.

Fortunately, this happened on a Friday afternoon and, after a lie down (CRM and me), CRM seemed to have cleared itself over the weekend and it now works fine.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what could be the cause and how can we fix if it occurs again in the future? (No, re-booting my PC didn't work).

Newsgroup subject: Accessing CRM Live Web Services
Archived from: microsoft.public.crm
Author: StingRayYellow

I found a nice article that shows how to access a CRM Live system:
http://blogs.msdn.com/crm/archive/2008/03/10/accessing-crm-live-web-services.aspx
Code works well. I can query, add & change a handful of entities with no problem. If I run the code on my entire database, I receive a popup error message from Visual Studio after a couple hours of processing:

Assertion Failed: The finalizer for the LogonManager instance should not be called directly, use a “using” statement instead. At LogonManager.Finalize()

Here’s a screenshot
http://www.beringer.net/images/LogonManagerError.gif

The error message is generated from a piece of SDK code located here:
sdk\server\helpers\cs\idcrlwrapper\Program.cs

The code calling the error message is located in the article above:
LogonManager lm = new LogonManager();

Has anyone seen this issue? Thank you for reading.

I want to ask about user email setting. As you can see in the attachment, at E-mail access type - Incoming, what are the differences between Forward Mailbox and Microsoft Dynamic CRM for Outlook?

Is this setting used for outlook and webaccess or webaccess only?

Newsgroup subject: Re: Outlook vs. webaccess crm 4.0

Actually, a correction to (4) in this list. When you're sending an email to a contact within the CRM 4.0 web-client, you're able to send attachments. You simply need to "save and close" the email as a draft, then go back into activities for that contact and re-open it.Under the attachment tab, you'll be able to add whatever attachment
you wish.

One of the biggest attractions I've seen for CRM for Outlook is the offline feature, which allows your sales reps or whomever to be offline with their Outlook client and still able to lookup CRM information and continue working while on the go.

A requirement for the CRM web-client that most users forget is that it requires an email router if you want your users to strictly use the web-client. Commonly, CRM will use the user's Outlook client to for any type of email activity, however this requires the user's Outlook to be open and online to work. If you've configured the user to
utilize the Email Router component (which is a separate setup and runs on its own system if it isn't provided to you by whomever you're hosting through) then they can do most everything via the web-client.

If you've set it up to monitor for inbound email, i.e. you have a sales@ address or just a sales agents address, you can configure the following type of tracking in the web client:

All e-mail messages
E-mail messages in response to CRM e-mail
E-mail messages from CRM Leads, Contacts, and Accounts

The web-client allows you to track emails, too.

The beauty of the web-client is that you don't need to worry about client setup and client issues. With some of our customers, we've noticed issues with the CRM for Outlook plug-in either hanging Outlook or crashing Outlook altogether and have noticed really the only major difference that is missed between the web-client and the Outlook plug-in is the ability to go offline with your CRM data. Even then, the sync requires sufficient space.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Tnx.

It's true you can do everything on the web version or the Outlook version.

The biggest feature of CRM is the fact you can everything inside of Outlook and not have to go a different application.

Outlook:
1 - Easier concept for end users (especially Sales folk) to grasp. "you don't need to learn a new application - it's just outlook with extra features".
2 - Easy to manually link items to CRM (track in CRM button) in the Outlook inbox, calendar, tasks, etc.
3 - Once tracked in CRM, you can clean-up your Outlook (delete old e-mails, tasks, etc.) because a copy of it is neatly stored (and easily retrievable) in CRM.
4 - Sending E-mails in the web version isn't as slick as Outlook, doesn't have word spell checker, can't do attachments, etc.
5 - Can't send appointment invitation to users from web client. Can't check other users calendar for availability before scheduling appointment, etc.

Sometimes, Outlook for CRM end-users get a little confused because they expect CRM to appear inside Outlook for Web (OWA). You have to explain the Outlook Web version and the CRM Web version are two different applications.

If you're not using tracking capability, the web version alone is just fine. However, the tracking feature is typically "huge" for the end-users.

2) What are most common ?

You could also have the web form email to a CRM queue and have some kind of automation process the email to create other record types. That way the web form could be completely separate from the CRM server.

The way we have usually done this is with a Windows service that checks a particular queue for messages with a particular subject. We use regular expressions to parse the email, then an xml config file to map the fields.
