Glad it worked afterall. Indeed the repair option in Outlook 2003 is not as good as the Detect and Repair one in Outlook 2007 which helped me solve a freeze in BCM 2007.

Thanks, Claudiu

I didn't have any luck using the repair option. Instead, I ended up doing a complete uninstall - reinstall which was successful. I suspect something was corrupt from the first install.

thanks for your help.

Hi,
Have you tried the repair option for office? It does seem that something got messed up when installing the add-in. The only other thing I can think of would be to reinstall the bcm add-in.

I just installed BCM 2003 on a different laptop. I receive the "Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close" error as soon as I select a BCM record. This will continue looping until I uncheck the "Restart Office Outlook" button.

My system configuration is:
Win XP Pro SP 3
Office 2003 SP 3
BCM 2003 SP 2

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Lynn,

What kind of goal are you trying to achieve with this "backward compatible" ability that you are asking?

If you want Business Contact Manager 2007 to be able to pick up BCM 2003 database so you can make the most out of the 2007 functionality, then yes, you can do this smoothly as of today. (from 2007) Business Contact Manager menu > Database Tools > Create or select a database...

If you want BCM 2007 to pick up BCM 2003 data, you can export data from 2003 and import that to 2007. (from 2007) Business Contact Manager menu > Database Tools > Import and Export...

If you want a BCM 2003 client to connect to a shared BCM 2007 database, then I would say sorry -- you would need to get both (or all) clients up to the same version (2007) for them to run together.

If you are referring to something else, please do let me know. I will answer you to the best of what I can.

Hope that helps,
John Huang [MSFT]

I am entering notes and/or phone call log items that have occurred in the past, and would like to date them accordingly, but BCM 2003 doesn't seem to allow that. The date that the item is created is what is being locked in.
Does anyone know how I can do this?
